Needs List for recovering parasol
Frame for parasol
1 1/2 - 3 yds fabric
Matching thread
Fabric should be 100% cotton or 100% silk taffeta (lining can be china silk) early parasols (small are usually silk.
For this first parasol recovering, it is adviseable to not buy charmuse, satin, or jacquard fabrics as they can be difficult to work with for a first timer.
Avoid blends of fibers as they can frey worse. Cotton sateen is workable, but be sure to NOT get the kind with lycra/stretch.
Avoid dupioni and shantung silk as well, as the slubbing makes them prone to raveling.
PLEASE do not choose synthetic fibers for your parasol.
Please contact me if you have any questions about fabrics.
I will try to have some parasol frames available.
